Project for Public Spaces and “Make It Your Own” grants

Project for Public Spaces

Founded in 1975, the Project for Public Spaces has developed a unique process for transforming public spaces, which PPS calls Placemaking. PPS has worked in 2,000 communities in 47 states and 26 countries to improve parks, markets, streets, transit stations, libraries and countless other places, while influencing the way cities and towns approach public space. What makes a great public waterfront, market or square? Check out the PPS website for examples of public places that work and why.

Make It Your Own grants

The Case Foundation has just launched an exciting new grant program called Make It Your Own. You (as individuals or in partnership with a group like, lets say, FMR…) can apply for grants for community-based and community-focused projects that protect your local environment. The deadline for initial applications is August 8, and the foundation stresses that you dont have to be a professional grant writer or environmentalist to enter. So if you have some dreams, ideas or burning projects youd like to get off the ground please visit their web site to check out this new program.

If you have questions or want to discuss a project or applying for a grant, you can contact FMRs director of development, Heather Haynes, at 651-222-2193 x20 or through our contact form.
